(AESI) was on-site today to observe wall subgrade and confirm the soil type found in excavations for dispersion trenches on west side of property. Dispersion Trenches AESI arrived on site in the afternoon to observe the soils encountered in 2 of the excavations for 2’-wide dispersion trenches on the west side of the property (Figure 1). Soils exposed in the excavation sidewalls consisted of very dense lodgement till. The plans indicate that a low-permeability liner should be placed if outwash soils are present, and AESI did not find outwash soils present in the excavations seen today. Wall Subgrade While onsite, AESI observed the subgrade for two walls on the west side of the property. The contractor had prepared the subgrade by cutting to grade and placing 1-2” of crushed rock or spalls in the base. AESI assessed the subgrade below the rock utilizing a ½” diameter steel soils probe and found the native soils in the area to be, in our opinion, firm and unyielding - suitable for wall subgrade. Figure 1. Sheet C2.2 with dispersion trenches observed today highlighted in blue, and wall subgrade highlighted in orange.
