The following briefly describes the application and the necessary Public Approvals. See also https://cutt.ly/A5RD9HK PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The applicant, the Renton School District, is requesting Administrative Site Plan Review in order to add four (4) portable classroom buildings at the Hazen High School site located at 1101 Hoquiam Ave NE (to be constructed on APN 1023059278). The site is approximately 33.3 acres in size and is developed with multiple school buildings, surface parking, and sports fields. The area of the site where the portables are proposed to be placed has a Comprehensive Plan Land Use of Designation of Residential Medium Density and a zoning designation of Residential-8 (R-8) dwelling units per net acre (du/ac). According to the applicant, each portable is 64 feet long and 28 feet wide with a total area of 1,792 sq. ft. The four portables will occupy a total area of 7,168 sq. ft. of the existing school parking lot, not including any associated walkways and access ramps and stairs to be installed alongside the structures. The portables are proposed to be located in pairs at two areas to the north and west of the existing school buildings. The proposal would not result in the removal of any landscaping or trees on the site. No new impervious surface is proposed. Five (5) trees located within landscape islands in the existing parking lot are proposed for removal. According to COR Maps, sensitive slopes are mapped on the site.
