No, the problem is that we can’t grade past our east property line which is at 436.89 (see detail 2) and the curb ramp flattens out the grade at the flowline keeping it too high to have
a crowned road section. Take a look at the PDF attached (Sorry, I sent an older version earlier).

If the sidewalk behind the curb is the consideration, the landscaping strip between the sidewalk and curb can make up the grade differences. Creating a superelevation will cause maintenance
considerations in the long run. I’m ok approving a design that maintains the existing road curbline but makes up the difference in the planter strip. See below:

Hi Michael,
Unfortunately, no. We spend quite a bit of time looking at this grading and the ADA compliant ramp results in some really warped pavement as it is flat at the ramp and steep as you
go to the west. Being held to the existing grade at the sawcut line to the north and the east with a slope of 1.5% across the ADA ramp really limits our grading and ability to provide
a nice transition with the new pavement.

Thank you for the clarification, I misunderstood your request previously. Instead of creating a superelevation at the 432 contour can the curb-line slope between the 432 and 436 contours
be increased prior to the ramp? This would be closer to consistent with the existing contours and not create a warp in the road. The 436 contour can just stay ‘flat’ but due to the
road slope upstream from the east to west, drainage would have enough energy not to puddle. See sketch below:

The design I sent on my previous email meets ADA requirements just like the approved design. It just has different spot grade elevations so I don’t believe a design change is necessary.

Thank you for your inquiry. The ramp does not qualify for an MEF given that there are likely multiple practical engineering solutions to addressing the ramp grading. Please submit
a revised design meeting ADA requirements that does not create bird baths or drainage problems.

Hi Michael,
To clarify I’m asking if the City will accept an MEF for a non complaint ADA ramp. I don’t want to change the design and prepare the MEF if the City will deny the request and will require
the ADA complaint ramp given the effects it has on the frontage grading.

Hi Michael,
In revising the grading along the east end of the frontage providing an ADA ramp with a cross slope of 1.5% creates a bump in the road and superelevates the road such that between elevations
432 and 432 the road drains to the north. Would the City consider an MEF to not provide a ADA compliant ramp given that we are held to the existing grade at the sawcut line to the
north and the east end of the frontage? Or would will the ramp still be required given how it affects the road grades? We also had to move the ramp 2’ from the east property line
so we could tie into the existing grade and meet the ADA requirements on the slope. The revise plan sheet is attached for reference showing the ADA compliant ramp.
