Comments
We recommend the following updates be made to the Environmental
Checklist: Section B, Environmental Elements; Subsection 7, Environmental
Health. The proposed project area is located near the following sites listed on
the Model Toxics Control Act (MTCA) Confirmed and Suspected Contaminated
Sites List: • Sound Ford, cleanup site ID 6342, facility site ID 58499353 • Les
Schwab Tires Renton, cleanup site ID 2963, facility site ID 78566837 Based on
the data from these nearby contaminated sites, soil and groundwater is
potentially contaminated with arsenic, diesel and lube oil. Please add the
contamination information in the checklist. Please describe any mitigation
measures if contamination is encountered during soil excavation and
construction. The mitigation measures should at a minimum address the
following: • Hazardous waste operations worker training, health/safety plan,
and site control requirements, per WAC 296-843. • Management of potential
contaminated soil and groundwater encountered during excavations, including
sampling, containment, and disposal at a permitted facility. Thank you for
