ED16457 CASE# 22-13443 OF COLLISION 12/19/22 17:28 OF CbLLI510N NARRATIVE On 12-19-2022 at 1731 hours, I was dispatched to a collision at the intersection of SW Grady Way and Lind Ave SW in the City of Renton, King County, WA State. I had my dash cam activated, as well as my body cam. However, when I arrived on scene, I put my reflective traffic vest on, which obscured the body cam unfortunately. Traffic was heavy, and the road was wet, as it had been both raining and snowing during the day. It was currently overcast. I arrived at 1737 hours, and saw that Vehicle 1 was in the middle of the intersection blocking both the southbound travel for Lind Ave SW and the eastbound travel for SW Grady Way. It had significant front end damage and was facing in a southwest direction. Vehicle 2 had significant right side damage, and was just south of the intersection, facing in the northeast direction. It was clear that Vehicle 1 had struck Vehicle 2 in the intersection. The intersection had a traffic control device for all directions. I identified the driver of Vehicle 1, driver of Vehicle 2, and passenger of Vehicle 2 by WA DOL photo licenses. Vehicle 1 driver told me that he was not injured. Vehicle 2 driver told me that he had a sore left leg and small cut on his left finger. Vehicle 2 passenger told me that he had a sore right wrist. The impact of this collision was significant. The Regional Fire Authority came to treat these people. Nobody went to the hospital. Both uninvolved witnesses told me that they were together in a vehicle driving northbound on Lind Ave SW approaching SW Grady Way. The light for Lind Ave SW was green, thus any traffic for SW Grady Way would be red. The witnesses saw Vehicle 2 drive southbound on Lind Ave SW (with a green light) into the intersection when Vehicle 1 drove eastbound on SW Grady Way against a red light and struck Vehicle 1. Vehicle 1 driver insisted that he had a green light when he was driving eastbound on SW Grady Way. He told me that he did not have insurance. Bankers Tow did a private impound of Vehicle 1. Vehicle 2 driver and passenger told me that they had a green light when they were driving southbound on Lind Ave SW. They were both employees of Sound Ford, driving a vehicle rented by Sound Ford. Their boss showed up with proof of insurance through Sound Ford, and arranged for a private tow. I took photos of the scene and vehicles. I did not see any red light or city cameras for this intersection. I later emailed the division in the City responsible for these types of cameras and will update with a supplemental report if there happens to be recording cameras for this intersection. I told Vehicle 1 driver that based on the account of the independent witnesses, he will be receiving a citation in the mail for Failure To Obey Traffic Control Device (Red light) and No Insurance. He disagreed with this. English was not his primary language, but we understood each other well enough to effectively communicate with each other.
