Limitations: The presence of our field representative at the site is to provide our client with a source of professional advice, opinions, and recommendations based upon the field representative’s observations and testing of the contractor’s work. Our services do not include supervision or direction of the contractor, their employees, or agents. Geotechnical recommendations for
obtaining project objectives may be made by our representatives; however, direction of the actual work should come from the owner or contractor, as appropriate. The contractor is responsible
for complying with the contract documents at all times, regardless of the presence of our field representative. Jobsite safety, including compliance with all applicable state or federal regulations,
is the sole responsibility of the contractor. The observations, recommendations, and conclusions provided in this field report are preliminary until reviewed by the ESNW project manager.
ESNW rep was on site to observe and document shoring and Redi-Rock wall installation.
Shoring Observations – Soldier Pile:
ESNW rep observed the drilling contractor use a 30-inch auger to auger excavate to design depth
(approx. 25 to 40-feet below existing grade) as per schedule (pg. 2). The excavations were stable with
spoils consisting of dense grey silty sands. ESNW rep observed the contractor install a steel beam as
per schedule in the center of the excavations and backfilled with structural concrete to bottom of
excavation and ‘CDF’ to existing grade. ESNW rep observed the contractor install P6, P7, P8, P9, P11,
P12, P13, P14 and P15. The shoring installation was observed completed as per approved plans and
our geotechnical recommendations.
Redi-Rock Wall Observations:
ESNW rep observed the contractor install a Redi-Rock wall along the east side of lots 33 to 40. ESNW
rep observed the excavation for the wall to be in dense material with a 1H:1V slope and was stable at the
time of visit. The contractor placed a lift of blocks as per design schedule and used 5/8-inch clean
crushed aggregate as drain rock/backfill. ESNW rep observed the wall to be installed as per approved
plans and our geotechnical recommendations.
