Our services do not include supervision or direction of the contractor, their employees, or agents. Geotechnical recommendations for obtaining project objectives may be made by our representatives; however, direction of the actual work should come from the owner or contractor, as appropriate. The contractor is responsible for complying with the contract documents at all times, regardless of the presence of our field representative. Jobsite safety, including compliance with all applicable state or federal regulations, is the sole responsibility of the contractor. The observations, recommendations, and conclusions provided in this field report are preliminary until reviewed by the ESNW project manager. ESNW rep was on site to observe and document shoring and Redi-Rock wall installation. Shoring Observations-Lagging: ESNW rep observed the drilling contractor install timber lagging. The contractor excavated an approximate 4 to 5-foot vertical excavation that was observed to be stable at the moment of visit. The contractor placed a 4 to 5-foot lift of 4 by 12-inch treated timber lagging in the soldier pile bays P9 to P40. The lagging was secured to adjacent soldier piles via welded nails to the piles. The timber lagging was backfilled with CDF. The timber lagging was to be installed as per approved plans and our geotechnical recommendations. Redi-Rock Wall Observations: ESNW rep observed the contractor install a Redi-Rock wall along the east side of lots 33 to 40. ESNW rep observed the excavation for the wall to be in dense material with a 1H:1V slope and was stable at the time of visit. The contractor placed a lift of blocks as per design schedule and used 5/8-inch clean crushed aggregate as drain rock/backfill. ESNW rep observed the wall to be installed as per approved plans and our geotechnical recommendations.
