This report is a summary of events that occurred and is not an exact sequencing of events. Statements have been paraphrased and summarized. * On 01.28.2023, at approximately 1821 hours, I was dispatched to a phone report regarding a hit and run that occurred in the intersection of NE 7th ST and Edmonds Ave NE, in the City of Renton, WA, the County of King. At the time of dispatch, I was assigned to uniformed marked patrol in the City of Renton, WA, the County of King. I was operating a fully marked Renton Police Tahoe #277, equipped with "POLICE" markings, overhead exterior lights, and audible siren. I was wearing my department-issued uniform, including a fully equipped duty belt, exterior ballistic vest with "POLICE" stenciled on the front and back and Renton Police badge affixed to the left breast. I was also wearing my department-issued jumpsuit with "POLICE" patches on both shoulders and across the rear shoulders. It would be immediately obvious to any reasonable person 1 was a police officer. I was assigned as 302. I contacted the reporting party/victim via phone, Hampton, Bernardean (DOB: 12.11.1955; 256/291- 5544 ). Hampton stated she was operating Unit 02, a 2021 Ford Expedition bearing Michigan Plate: EFQ6114 (rental vehicle), traveling westbound on NE 7th ST. As Hampton approached the four-way stop at the intersection with Edmonds Ave NE, she stopped at the stop sign and when safe to proceed, continued traveling westbound on NE 7th ST. Hampton says the driver of Unit 01, a Honda CR-V bearing WA/BLC0670, was traveling northbound on Edmonds Ave NE. The driver did not stop at the clearly posted stop sign, continued through the intersection and struck Unit 02 on the driver's side rear body of the vehicle. After the collision, the driver of Unit 01 fled the scene, failing to stop and check on the welfare of the other involved party or exchange information, as required. The suspect driver was described as a white male, older, possibly Italian. The driver fled northbound on Edmonds Ave NE, then turned right, eastbound, on NE Sunset Blvd. The suspect vehicle returns clear with a registered owner listed as Peck, Roman Z. (DOB: 04.15.1952), with an address of: 16855 146TH AVE SE; RENTON.STA/WA.ZIP/98058-8502. I provided Hampton with a copy of the case number via email, beanhampton@outlook.com. Hampton told me she is visiting from Alabama and leaves Washington State on Feb. 1, 2023. She wanted to "think about" whether or not she would aid in prosecution for hit and run should the driver of the suspect vehicle be identified. At approximately 1844 hours, I responded to the suspect vehicle address on file in an attempt to contact the registered owners. Upon arrival, the suspect vehicle was not on location, and no one was at the residence. I will attempt contact later on in the evening. No injuries were reported. Should a suspect driver be identified, there is probable cause for violation of RCW 46.52.020: Hit and Run -Attended vehicle.
