ED30441 CASE# 23-1127 OF COLLISION 01/26/23 14:58 OF CbLLI510N NARRATIVE 23-1127 On 01/26/2023 at approximately 1501 hours, I was dispatched to a non-injury and blocking vehicle collision in the intersection 17700 block of 108th Ave SE, within the City Limits of Renton, County of King, State of Washington. Upon my arrival, I located both parties and confirmed there were no complaints of injury requiring immediate medical response. The driver of Unit#2 did complain of minor pain in her legs and neck but stated she would follow-up with her doctor at a later date. While on scene, I collected each involved party's information and involvement leading up to the collision. The driver of Unit#1 stated she and her two juvenile children were traveling northbound in about the 17700 block of 108th Ave SE and approaching the driveway leading to a private parking lot located on the west side of 108th Ave SE. The driver of Unit#1 stated that she had pulled into the dedicated left-turn-lane to yield to traffic for an upcoming left-turn. The driver of Unit#1 stated she intended to proceed into the private property parking lot following the turn. The driver of Unit#1 stated that southbound traffic in lane 2 of 2 on 108th Ave SE was clear for Unit#1 to proceed out into the intersection. While Unit#1 proceeded out into the intersection, the driver of Unit#1 stated she could not see southbound traffic in lane 1 of 2 on 108th Ave SE. Once Unit#1 reached lane 1 of 2, she saw Unit#2 occupying that lane. The driver of Unit#1 stated she tried to avoid the collision but was unable to and that Unit#2 struck the rear passenger side door and fender of Unit#1 subsequently causing moderate damage to Unit#1. The driver of Unit#2 said she and her adult passenger were traveling southbound in about the 17700 block of 108th Ave SE in lane 1 of 2. The driver of Unit#2 stated she was intending to continue south through the uncontrolled intersection. The driver of Unit#2 stated while approaching the intersection of the private parking lot entrance which Unit#1 was trying to turn into, she continued going straight ahead. The driver of Unit#2 stated she was just driving along when Unit#1 turned in front of her vehicle. The driver of Unit#2 stated she was unable to avoid the collision and struck Unit#1 causing significant damage to the front of Unit#2. Based on the above statements, I determined that the Driver of Unit#1 (SLUGIC) was the predominant factor for the collision due to not granting the right of way during a left-turn causing a collision. The driver of Unit#1 violated RCW 46.61.185.1 by not granting the right of way to Unit#2 traveling in the roadway which had the right of way and was already underway. I cited SLUGIC via mail for the Improper Left Turn. Both Unit#1 and Unit#2 were able to be driven away without further incident. An exchange of information was provided to all involved parties.
