NARRATIVE
On 02/04/2023 at 1522 hours I was dispatched to 743 Rainier Ave S, in the City of Renton, King
County, Washington. I was responding to a call of an injury collision. I later determined the collision
occurred in the 300 block of SW 7th St, just north of Walmart.
While en route, dispatch advised the following: the collision involved two vehicles, was blocking, and
at least one person was complaining of neck pain.
In this report, Unit 1 refers to a black 2012 Toyota Rav4 (WA/LEM912K), driven by Atif Duderija (DOB
08/29/1952, WA DL). Unit 2 refers to a silver Acura TL (WA/CBL4565), driven by Edorlan T. Ong
(DOB 09/08/1981, WA DL).
At approximately 1528 hours, I arrived on scene. Unit 2 was perpendicular to the street on SW 7th St,
blocking both lanes, just east of the Wal Mart parking lot entry point. It had damage to the passenger
side with side airbags deployed. Renton Fire Authority was arriving to evaluate the occupants. Unit 1
was in the center lane with front end damage.
I interviewed both drivers and evaluated the damage to the vehicles. My investigation determined the
following:
Unit 2 was traveling eastbound on SW 7th St passing Walmart. Unit 1 was exiting the parking lot onto
SW 7th St and struck Unit 2 as it was driving past. There is a stop sign controlling traffic exiting the
parking lot onto SW 7th St. I established probable cause that Duderija, driving Unit 1, improperly
stopped at the stop sign by proceeding before it was safe to do so onto SW 7th St, striking Unit 2.
Unit 2 had one passenger, Mary S. Ong (DOB 08/26/2012, verbal). She complained of neck pain.
Renton Fire Authority placed her in a cervical collar and transported her to Valley Medical Center for
further evaluation.
Duderija was able to move his vehicle off the roadway. Ong left to accompany his daughter to the
hospital before the tow truck arrived. I completed a tow form and emailed Ong a copy of it.
I authored Duderija a citation (cite 3A0081163) for improper stop at stop sign and mailed it to his
home address.
This concludes my involvement in this case.
