ED42620 CASE# 23-2965 OF COLLISION 03/13/23 10:01 OF CbLLI510N NARRATIVE 23-2965 On 03/13/2023 at approximately 1007 hours, I was dispatched to a non-injury and non-blocking vehicle collision at the intersection of Logan Ave North and North 10th ST, within the City Limits of Renton, County of King, State of Washington. While en route, Dispatch advised that two vehicles were involved in a collision at the intersection and had pulled off of the roadway and into the Landing parking garage for police contact. Dispatch advised that one of the involved parties only spoke Spanish while the other involved party was deaf. Upon my arrival, and with Language Line Solutions for Spanish, I confirmed there were no complaints of injury while Officer K. Lane communicated via text to confirm the other party was okay. I collected each involved party's information and their independent recollection of their involvement leading up to the collision. The driver of Unit#1 stated he and his adult passenger were traveling northbound on Logan Ave North approaching the intersection of N 10th ST. The driver of Unit#1 stated he was intending to continue straight (north) at the intersection. The driver of Unit#1 stated that he believed the traffic light was yellow upon entering the intersection. The driver of Unit#1 stated that upon entering the intersection, he was met by cross traffic, specifically Unit#2 and that as a result, Unit#1 and Unit#2 collided causing moderate damage to the front bumper of Unit#1. The driver of Unit#2 said she was the sole occupant of her vehicle and was traveling westbound on N 10th ST and stopped at the intersection of Logan Ave North in lane 2 of 2 (left-turn lane). The driver of Unit#2 stated she was intending to turn left to proceed southbound onto Logan Ave North upon the traffic light changing from red to green. Once the traffic light changed from red to green for her direction of travel, the driver of Unit#2 stated she proceeded out into the intersection. It was not until Unit#2 was near-complete through her turn when she noticed Unit#1 approaching the intersection from the south and believed that Unit#1 ran a red light. The driver of Unit#2 stated that she was unable to avoid the collision and that Unit#1 struck Unit#2 causing moderate damage to the rear driver's side quarter panel of Unit#2. Based on the above statements and vehicle damage location, I believe that the Driver of Unit#1 was the predominant factor for the cause of collision due to Failing to Obey a Traffic Control Device causing a collision. The damage of Unit#2 was towards the rear of the vehicle which is consistent with Unit#2 having nearly completed her turn before the collision. It was also discovered that the driver of Unit#1 (Reyes Jimenez) only had Mexico Identification and did not have a driver's license therefor 1 cited the Driver of Unit#1 in-person for No Valid Operators License with Valid Identification and Operating a Motor Vehicle without insurance. I issued the driver of Unit#1 a warning for Failing to Obey a Traffic Control Device. Both Unit#1 and Unit#2 were able to be driven away without further incident.
