They would like to demolish the house and extend an 8-foot tall fence within the front yard setback of the new property for a limited amount of time. Let’s you and I connect on this in the next couple of days, but just wanted to get a planner on board for Cailin to start the process. Thanks! -Matt From: Cailín Hunsaker <CHunsaker@Rentonwa.gov> Sent: Thursday, June 8, 2023 12:27 PM To: Matthew Herrera <MHerrera@Rentonwa.gov> Cc: Nathan Janders <NJanders@Rentonwa.gov>; Steve Brown <Sbrown@Rentonwa.gov> Subject: RE: Fence Conditions Around Park Ave Shop Hi, Matt ~ timing is as soon as possible. The fence installation task will be included in a scope of work I am crafting with demolition of the Pirelli house and a garage building in the Park Ave Shop maintenance yard. I expect I will need to know the details of what is allowed with the TUP before I send out the solicitation to secure a contractor. Thanks for setting me up with a project manager. A TUP would be a much quicker process. I can get you set up with a project manager to identify the needed materials to process the permit. What is your timing on this? -Matt MATT HERRERA, AICP, Current Planning Manager City of Renton | CED | Planning Division 1055 S Grady Way | 6th Floor | Renton, WA 98057 Virtual Permit Center | Online Applications and Inspections DESK: (425) 430-6593 | MOBILE: (206) 308-6231 | mherrera@rentonwa.gov From: Cailín Hunsaker <CHunsaker@Rentonwa.gov> Sent: Thursday, June 8, 2023 10:56 AM To: Matthew Herrera <MHerrera@Rentonwa.gov> Cc: Nathan Janders <NJanders@Rentonwa.gov>; Steve Brown <Sbrown@Rentonwa.gov> Subject: RE: Fence Conditions Around Park Ave Shop Hi, Matt ~ if Parks and Recreation would like to request variances on the setback and height of the fence along Park Ave N, can you let me know what is my first step to pursue this? We are hoping that because it is intended to be a temporary fixture on the property, these variances would be a possibility. Thanks for letting me know. Here are some regulations associated with fencing in this area: · The fence allowance in the CA zone where your site is located is limited to 8-feet in height with the exception of the 15-foot setback along Park Ave N. This front yard setback area from the sidewalk inward 15-feet is limited to a 4-foot fence height. · Any chainlink fencing is required to be coated with black, brown, grey, or green bonded vinyl. · Any barbed wire would need a special administrative fence permit reviewed by the Current Planning group. (I can provide you additional information on this if this is the route you want to go). · Fences over 6-feet in height require a building permit from the Development Services Division. Also, with the old house coming down, if there are plans to pave the site you’ll want to check in with Nate’s group to see if any stormwater regulations are triggered. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions and/or clarifications of the items noted above. -Matt MATT HERRERA, AICP, Current Planning Manager City of Renton | CED | Planning Division 1055 S Grady Way | 6th Floor | Renton, WA 98057 Virtual Permit Center | Online Applications and Inspections DESK: (425) 430-6593 | MOBILE: (206) 308-6231 | mherrera@rentonwa.gov From: Cailín Hunsaker <CHunsaker@Rentonwa.gov> Sent: Monday, June 5, 2023 4:30 PM To: Matthew Herrera <MHerrera@Rentonwa.gov> Cc: Nathan Janders <NJanders@Rentonwa.gov>; Steve Brown <Sbrown@Rentonwa.gov> Subject: FW: Fence Conditions Around Park Ave Shop Hi, Matt ~ I couldn’t tell if Nathan also forwarded the files I included in this request so attaching them here to go with the first message in this chain. Before we send out the solicitation for bids we wanted to get these details. Parks and Recreation recently acquired and plans to demolish the house at 140 Park Ave N (attached) and then extend the existing fence (dashed yellow) from around the Parks Maintenance yard at 130 Park Ave N to extend the yard’s footprint. Also attached are photos of what the current fence looks like (8’ tall) along the east side of the yard and the corner where it currently meets up with the fence in the residential yard at the site. What are the conditions for fencing in this part of Renton and can we extend the same type from the maintenance yard around this newly-acquired property? Thanks for your help.
