THE COUNTY APPROVAL OF A GRADING PERMIT CONSISTENT WITH TREE RETENTION

2. PRIOR TO CLEARING FOR A PROJECT ACTION, TREES TO BE RETAINED SHALL BE FLAGGED.
3. PRIOR TO GRADING FOR A PROJECT ACTION AND THROUGHOUT CONSTRUCTION, A
TEMPORARY CHAINLINK OR PLASTIC NET FENCE SHALL BE USED TO IDENTIFY
THE PROTECTED AREA OF ANY SIGNIFICANT TREE DESIGNATED FOR RETENTION.
THE HEIGHT OF SUCH FENCING SHALL BE ADJUSTED ACCORDING TO THE TOPOGRAPHIC
AND VEGETATIVE CONDITIONS OF THE SITE TO PROVIDE CLEAR VISUAL DELINEATION
IF THE PROTECTED AREA. THE SIZE OF PROTECTED AREA AROUND THE TREE SHALL
BE EQUAL TO ONE FOOT DIAMETER FOR EACH INCH OF TREE TRUNK DIAMETER
MEASURED FOUR FEET ABOVE THE GROUND.
4. AT NO TIME DURING AND AFTER CONSTRUCTION SHALL THE FOLLOWING BE PERMITTED
WITHIN THE PROTECTED AREA:
A. IMPERVIOIUS SURFACES, FILL, EXCAVATION, OR STORAGE OF CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS
B. GRADE LEVEL CHANGES, EXCEPT IN LIMITED CIRCUMSTANCES WHERE PROPOSED
IMPROVEMENTS USING PERMEABLE MATERIALS ARE DETERMINED BY AN ARBORIST
TO BE NON -DETRIMENTAL TO THE TREES ROOT SYSTEM.
5. ALTERNATIVE OR ADDITIONAL PROTECTION METHODS MAY BE PROPOSED AND BE USED
IF DETERMINED BY THE DIRECTOR TO PROVIDE EQUAL OR GREATER PROTECTION FOR
TREES DESIGNATED FOR RETENTION.

SHALL BE 5 FEET IN RESIDENTIAL OR 8 FEET IN BUSINESS
DISTRICTS.
3. ON BUS ROUTES, PLANS SHALL BE COORDINATED WITH METRO
