The observations, recommendations, and conclusions provided in this field report are preliminary until reviewed by the ESNW project manager. ESNW rep was onsite to observe road grading in alley 2 and observe temporary excavation stability. Alley 2 Subgrade While onsite, ESNW rep observed the contractor cutting alley 2 down to grade using a large excavator. Rep used a ½” steel T-probe to probe the subgrade and observed it to be dense, firm, unyielding, and suitable for pavement. ESNW rep will return to continue to probe remainder of the road. Please see image below. Slope Observation ESNW rep observed the temporary cut slope onsite to be approximately 25’ in height on north, east and south sides, and 15’ on the west side. Soil observed are layers of interbedded sand with gravel, and silt with gravel. ESNW rep observed the temporary excavation to be stable in its current configuration. It is the responsibility of the contractor to adhere to all safety measures in accordance with state and federal regulations. ESNW is monitoring the inclinometers at the top of the slope twice a week.
