HomeMy WebLinkAboutRE_ Sounders FC CB C01Good morning Will, I did get the documents and in review this is only partially approved: APPROVED: Retaining the existing 72” catch basin is acceptable provided the new connections and those that are removed do not impact the structural integrity of the CB. Please consider this email as formal notice of acceptance and ensure the record drawings are updated to reflect the change. NOT APPROVED: Eliminating the spill control device from the 72” CB is not acceptable. Based on as-builds of the system it does not appear that the two devices shown protect the system from the entire parking lot area. Additionally, in further review a downturn elbow is not explicitly allowed by the RSWDM, however, it may be allowed provided it provides an equal level of protection as a tee section. In review of the tee section I do not see how these elbows provide an equal level of protection. (refer to section 4.2.1–‘Spill Control’-a). I would suggest evaluating detail 2/C3.21 and a tee section (per figure 5.1.4.A of the RSWDM) to determine what is the most cost effective solution for spill control. If a change to the detail is more efficient I will need to see a plan revision for it. We have confirmed in the field that the storm structures immediately upstream of the 72” CB have spill control for oil/water separation. These two CB’s appear to be in good working order and protecting Pond B from the parking lot’s oil runoff. Attached are pictures of the two CB’s and their downturned elbows as well as some additional notation on the construction drawings for what we’d like to keep. Thank you and please let me know if you have any questions about our proposal, William Andres, PE Civil Project Manager COUGHLINPORTERLUNDEEN STRUCTURAL CIVIL SEISMIC ENGINEERING 801 SECOND AVE / SUITE 900 / SEATTLE WA 98104 P: 206.343.0460 / cplinc.com <https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fcplinc.com%2F&data=05%7C01%7CNJanders%40Rentonwa.gov%7Ccf1e731b04294bef2ced08db942ab016%7C7101414106114 8858e98cc96a05e1675%7C1%7C0%7C638266683321492149%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=OwsMoV0uv9XoUbzXUca8Q7bBFYVRblyNvXPbX saEotU%3D&reserved=0>
