HomeMy WebLinkAboutWWP273624PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT cityo eMMf�Qm�ea DATE: August 15, 2012 TO: Bonnie Walton, City Clerk FROM: John Hobson, Wastewater Utility Engineer, x7279 SUBJECT: Bid Award for the Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation 2012 & Lake Washington Blvd Pipe Rehabilitation Project The Public Works Department has reviewed the bids submitted for the Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation 2012 & Lake Washington Blvd Pipe Rehabilitation project and recommends that the bid be awarded to Insituform Technologies, Inc. We are requesting that an agenda bill for "Council Concur" be prepared for the August 20, 2012, Council Meeting. The bid opening was on Tuesday, August 14, 2012. There were two bids received. There were no errors in any of the bids. The low bidder is Insituform Technologies, Inc. with a bid of $247,327.03 ($211,960.03 for the Wastewater portion of the project and $35,367.00 for the Surface Water Utility portion of the project). The engineer's estimate was $401,322.60 ($371,292.60 for the Wastewater portion of the project and $30,030.00 for the Surface Water Utility portion of the project). The project budget amount for the Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation 2012 & Lake Washington Blvd Pipe Rehabilitation project is $800,000 (2012 Wastewater Utility) and $360,057 (2012 Su face Water Utility). The low bid for the Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation 2012 & Lake Washington Blvd Pipe Rehabilitation project is within the amount approved in the 2012 budget for this project. The project will rehabilitate approximately 4,909 linear feet of existing 8" concrete sanitary sewer, 546 linear feet of existing 10" concrete sanitary sewer, 92 linear feet of 12" concrete storm culvert, 58 linear feet of 18" concrete storm culvert with cured -in - place pipe (CIPP) and rehabilitate 11 existing brick sanitary sewer manholes. The sanitary sewer work will take place in several areas throughout the city and the surface water work will rehabilitate 3 culvert crossings in Lake Washington Blvd N (between N 35th St and N 38th St). For execution of the contract, please submit the following information as soon as possible so we can prepare the contract documents for review and signature by the Mayor: 1. A list of names, addresses, phone numbers, and emergency phone numbers for: Responsible Officer, Job Foreman, and Bonding Agent. 2. Corporation letter or Resolution giving names of those authorized to sign the contract and samples of their signatures. 3. Photocopy of your current Washington State Contractor's License (not master license). 4. Two signed contract bonds on City of Renton forms (enclosed), UNDATED. The date will be filled in when signed by the Mayor. 5. One City of Renton Fair Practices Affidavit of Compliance (enclosed). 6. Two signed contracts, also UNDATED (enclosed). 7. One Certificate of Insurance for 2012 in accordance with Section 1-07.18 of the Special Provisions. Please add the City of Renton as additional insured. 8. This will include, but not be limited to, information on the proposed source and specifications of all materials that will be used in the project (e.g.; CIPP, etc.), showing that the proposed material meets the project specifications, per Standard Specifications and Special Provisions Section 1-06.1. Provide any shop drawings and submittals needed for the project per Standard Specifications and Special Provisions Section 1-06. 2. Work Plan. Include the following items: 1.
