RE: Insufficiency of Signatures – City of Renton Initiative Measure No. 23-01
Dear Jason Seth:
King County Elections received supplemental petition pages on Friday, August 4, 2023, for City
of Renton Initiative Measure No. 23-01.
Before beginning the signature validation process, we made an initial count of the number of
signatures from the supplemental petition pages received. A total of 1,081 signatures were
submitted on Friday, August 4, 2023. An additional 2,226 valid signatures are needed to meet
the required 8,913 valid signatures. King County Elections will not be proceeding with the
signature verification process since the number of signatures submitted fails to meet the
minimum number required. Per Renton Municipal Code, Title 1, Chapter 2, Section 1-2-2, we
have determined that the petition is insufficient.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me directly or my staff.
Sincerely,
Julie Wise
Director of Elections
