GENERAL NOTES
Design Specifications:
1972 issue of A.R.E.A. with current amendments a
Milwaukee Road practices.
Loading: Cooper E80 + Diesel Impact.
Materials a Workmanship:
Shall conform to the State of Washington Standard
Specifications for Road & Bridge Construction 1974
edition except that the fabrication of steelwork
shall be in accordance with chapter 15 of the
A.R.E.A. specifications 1972 edition.
Bench Mark -
Bross disc, King County Monument EM-3, in walk,
southwest corner of Zepp Bridge over Green
River (S.W. 43rd street at W. Valley Road).
Elev.=36.07, U.S.C. 81 G.S. datum 1947 adj.
Reinforcing Steel:
A.S.T.M. A 615 Grade 60, fs - 24,000 psi.
Concrete:
Washington State Highway Department Class "AX"
mix fc=4000psi or class "B" mix fc=3000psi. as
noted on plans.
Structural Steel A. S.T. M. A-588. Weathering, Grade 50
yield. Bolts A.S.T.M. A-325 Type III Weathering.
Piling: 12"I.D.1/4" thick shell closed end steel pipe piles
concrete filled driven to achieve resistance of 70
tons and 16" 1.D. 1/41 thick shell closed end steel
pipe piles concrete filled driven to achieve
resistance of 100 tons.(design capacities).
Reinforcing Bar Identification
Reinforcement shall be detailed according to the ACI
Manual of detailing practices:

Metal Shell Piling Material and Driving shall conform to
American Railway Engineering Association specifications,

where at variance with Washington Standard
Specifications for Road and Bridge: Constr action.
Waterproofing Materials and Constr!activn shall conform to
American Railway Engineering Association specifications
