GENERAL NOTES
THIS STRUCTURE HAS BEEN DESIGNED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE
REQUIREMENTS FOR LOAD FACTOR DESIGN, 1977 AASHTO SPECI-
FICATIONS AND INTERIM SPECIFICATIONS THROUGH 1983.
ALL CAST -IN -PLACE CONCRETE SHALL BE CLASS A X MIX UNLESS
OTHERWISE NOTED ON THE PLANS.
UNLESS OTHERWISE SHOWN ON THE PLANS, C01,1CRETE COVER
MEASURED FROM THE FACE OF CONCRETE TO THE FACE OF ANY
REINFORCEMENT BAR SHALL BE 2" AT THE TOP OF ROADWAY SLAB,
1" AT THE BOTTOM OF THE ROADWAY SLAB, 3" AT SURFACES CAST
AGAINST AND PERtIANENTLY EXPOSED TO EARTH AND 1" AT ALL
OTHER LOCATIONS.
ALL REINFORCING STEEL SHALL BE DEFORMED BARS CONFORMING
TO ASTM A.-615 GRADE 60.
STRUCTURAL STEEL SHALL BE ASTM A-36.
ALL STEEL PIPE HANGERS, CONDUIT SUPPORTS, FASTENERS,
HARDWARE, AND MISCELLANEOUS METAL ON THE BRIDGE SHALL
BE HOT DIP GALVANIZED, IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 05910.
WELDING SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH AMERICAN WELDING
SOCIETY, STRUCTURAL WELDING CODE D1.1. - LATEST EDITION.
FALSEWORK SHALL BE CAREFULLY RELEASED TO PREVENT IMPACT
OR UNDUE STRESSES IN THE STRUCTURE.
PILING SHALL BE STEEL CASED CONCRETE PILE WITH MINIMUM
LOAD BEARING CAPACITY OF 100 TONS EACH. STEEL CASING
SHALL HAVE A MINIMUM INSIDE DIAM. OF 18". ESTIMATED
PILE TIP ELEVATION IS 75.0 AT ALL PIERS. AFTER BRIDGE
SUPERSTRUCTURE CONSTRUCTION IS COMPLETE, STEEL CASING
SHALL BE REMOVED SUCH THAT THE CASING DOES NOT EXTEND
ABOVE AN ELEVATION 2 FEET BELOW FINAL GROUND LINE.
