STAGE 1: INITIALLY, USE EXISTING SIGNAL POLES AND EQUIPMENT. MAKE
TEMPORARY MODIFICATIONS AND PROVIDE ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT PER
THIS TEMPORARY SIGNAL PLAN.
WHEN NEW SIGNAL EQUIPMENT IS AVAILABLE, CONSTRUCT NEW SIGNAL
SYSTEM PER SIGNAL PLANS. FOR TEMPORARY MODIFICATIONS TO NEW
SIGNAL SYSTEM SEE THIS TEMPORARY SIGNAL PLAN. ACTIVATE NEW AND
REMOVE EXISTING SIGNAL SYSTEM.
STAGE 2: OPERATE NEW SIGNAL SYSTEM WITH TEMPORARY MODIFICATIONS
PER THIS TEMPORARY SIGNAL PLAN.
STAGE 3: OPERATE NEW SIGNAL SYSTEM WITH TEMPORARY MODIFICATIONS
TO ACCOMMODATE TEMPORARY CHANNELIZATION (NOT SHOWN IN

DIRECT TRAFFIC DURING THE CHANGEOVER.
GENERAL NOTES
1. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE PEDESTRIAN ACCESS TO PUSH BUTTONS
DURING CONSTRUCTION. EASE OF ACCESS SHALL MEET OR EXCEED
CURRENT CONDITIONS.
2. CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE ALIGNMENT OF EXISTING AND
TEMPORARY SIGNAL HEADS WITH CITY OF R; .NTON SIGNAL TECHNICIAN IN
THE FIELD. FOR FINAL SIGNAL HEAD ASSIGNMENTS AND PHASING
DIAGRAM, SEE SIGNAL PLANS.
3. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROTECT SIGNAL CONTROLLER CABINET AND ALL
ASSOCIATED CONDUIT/WIRING DURING CONSTRUCTION.
4. TEMPORARY SIGNAL HEAD INSTALLATIONS SHALL BE INSTALLED SUCH
THAT NO PERMANENT MODIFICATIONS ARE MADE TO THE PERMANENT
SIGNAL EQUIPMENT. WIRING SHALL BE ACCESSED THROUGH HANDHOLES.
DRILLING THROUGH SIGNAL POLE OR MAST ARM IS NOT ALLOWED.
5. TEMPORARY VIDEO DETECTION CAMERA SYSTEMS SHALL BE FURNISHED
AND INSTALLED FOR ALL APPROACHES BY THE CONTRACTOR.
6. SIGNAL CONTROLLER MODIFICATION SHALL BE PERFORMED IN THE
PRESENCE OF CITY OF RENTON SIGNAL TECHNICIANS.
7. FOR CONDUIT/WIRING, SEE SIGNAL PLANS.
8. FOR CONSTRUCTION PHASING, SEE CONSTRUCTION CHANNELIZATION PLANS.
9. COORDINATE NIGHT WORK WITH CITY OF RENTON TRAFFIC SIGNAL
TECHNICIAN
10. TEMPORARY INTERCONNECT WIRELESS RADIOS AND PTZ CAMERAS WILL BE
INSTALLED BY CITY OF RENTON SIGNAL TECHNICIANS.
