I. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CONSTRUCT ALL WATER BYPASS PIPE WITH 24 MINIMUM COVER. NO PORTION OF THE
WATER BYPASS SYSTEM WILD.?E PERMITTED ABOVE GROUND. THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR MAINTAINING,
PROTECTING AND REPAIRING THE WATER BYPASS SYSTEM FOR THE DURATION OF ITS OPERATION.
2. CONTRACTOR TO VERIFY LOCATION AND QUANTITY OF ALL EXISTING WATER SERVICES AND, IF NECESSARY, PROVIDE
ADDITIONAL CONNECTIONS NOT SHOWN ON THESE PLANS.
3. WATER BYPASS MAINS, TEMPORARY FIRE HYDRANTS AND ASSOCIATED APPURTENANCES SHOWN ARE SCHEMATIC,
NOT TO SCALE AND PROVIDED FOR CONVENIENCE ONLY. THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR LOCATING AND
ROUTING THE WATER BYPASS SYSTEM TO COORDINATE WITH CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES, AND TO MEET ALL
CONTRACT REQUIREMENTS. NO PORTION OF THE WATER BYPASS SYSTEM SHALL BE LOCATED OUTSIDE CITY
RIGHT-OF-WAY AND PERMANENT EASEMENT BOUNDARIES. SEE RIGHT OF WAY PLANS, SHT 7-18.
4. CONTRACTOR SHALL MAINTAIN FIRE FLOW AND SERVICE CONNECTIONS TO BUSINESSES AT ALL TIMES. WHERE
EXISTING SYSTEM IS IN CONFLICT WITH CONSTRUCTION OF NEW WATER SYSTEM OR OTHER CONSTRUCTION,
CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE TEMPORARY WATER BYPASS SYSTEM UNTIL NEW MAIN HAS BEEN INSTALLED, TESTED,
AND APPROVED BY THE CITY OF RENTON.
5. CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR DETERMINING METHOD OF CONSTRUCTION FOR ALL WATER BYPASS PIPE
INCLUDING SIZE AND TYPE FOR ALL FITTINGS, CONNECTIONS TO EXISTING MAINS, CONNECTIONS TO EXISTING METERS
AND TEMPORARY FIRE HYDRANT ASSEMBLIES.
6. THE WATER BYPASS MAIN AND ALL ASSOCIATED CONNECTIONS AND EXTENSIONS SHALL BE HDPE PER
SPECIFICATIONS.

BYPASS CONSTRUCTION. COORDINATE WITH RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES TO MINIMIZE IMPACTS OF SHUTDOWN.
11. BACKFILL FOR WATER BYPASS SYSTEM TRENCHING SHALL BE COMPACTED GRAVEL BORROW OR SUITABLE NATIVE
MATERIAL. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL REPAIR ALL DRIVING SURFACES AND PEDESTRIAN WALKWAYS OUTSIDE THE WORK
ZONE EXTENTS (SEE CONSTRUCTION CHANNELIZATION PLANS, SHTS 38-49) WITH TEMPORARY PAVING.
