Renton Farmers Market opens on June 6
Market features fresh local produce and fruits, as well as entertainment, and demonstrations
RENTON, WA – The Renton Farmers Market, featuring the freshest produce and fruits from local farmers and
unique goods, will open on Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at 3:00 p.m. The market runs every Tuesday, except July 4, until
September 26 from 3 to 7 p.m. at The Piazza, 233 Burnett Ave. S., in downtown.
Mayor Denis Law will ring the market’s opening bell at 3 p.m. and attendees will then shop among farm fresh
produce, fruits, and flowers as well as baked goods, and arts and crafts. The Hazen High School Jazz Band will
perform and Washington State University’s Food $ense program will be on hand to present smart shopping
strategies and demonstrate healthy and budget-minded recipes.
The SNAP/Fresh Bucks incentive program will be honored. This program matches SNAP/EBT benefits dollar-for-
dollar to a maximum of $10, increasing access to market products.
The market will also feature:
Kid’s Patch, featuring free and fun activities
Kid’s Passport, designed to get kids engaged with the market while learning healthy eating habits
Washington State University’s Master Gardeners
Weekly live entertainment and cooking demonstrations
Food trucks at Market West on the west side of The Piazza
Kids Day on June 27
Green Day on July 11
Total Health Day on August 1, sponsored by Kaiser Permanente
Multicultural Day on September 5
