Clean Sweep provides way for single-family residents
to dispose of excess items
Republic Services will provide free curb side pickup from September 1 to December 29, 2017
RENTON, WA – Didn’t quite get around to finishing your spring cleaning? Yard being over-run with the remnants
of good purchases gone bad? Want to do your part to make your neighborhood sparkle?
Clean Sweep, the City of Renton’s popular curb side clean-up program, returns, more customer-friendly than
before, and the answer to your problems.
This collaborative effort between the city’s solid waste utility and Republic Services allows eligible single-family
residential garbage customers a one-time opportunity to have excess items hauled away for no charge.
Previously, all such collections were made on the same day, but this year homeowners can pick the day that best
fits their schedule.
The program starts September 1, 2017, and runs through December 29, 2017.
Republic Services residential customers can put out up to 10 units of trash for pickup. One unit is equal to a 32-
gallon bag, box or sturdy garbage can. Each unit cannot exceed 65 pounds and must measure no more than three
feet in length on any side. Two bulky items, such as mattresses, sofas, or chairs, also will be accepted. All materials
collected will be deposited at King County’s Cedar Hills Landfill.
Items that are not accepted include hazardous waste, liquid waste, and items that can be recycled, such as
appliances, electronics, yard waste, and construction materials.
To participate:
1. Choose a regularly scheduled garbage collection date between September 1 and December 29, 2017.
2. Call 206-777-6440 or text 253-243-4352 to schedule your Clean Sweep collection day at least one week,
and up to four weeks, in advance of your collection date.
3. Place items in bags, boxes, or old sturdy garbage cans clearly marked “CL” for Clean Sweep.
4. Set Clean Sweep units to the curb by 7 a.m. on your scheduled collection day.
