City of Renton Celebrates National Day of Service
Renton’s Day of Volunteer Mobilization is September 9
RENTON, WA - The City of Renton will host the eighth annual Day of Service on Saturday, September 9, from
9 to 11:30 a.m. After working on their projects, volunteers are invited to a Celebration of Service picnic from
noon to 1 p.m. at Liberty Park. Entertainment will be provided by The Marianna Group. The entertainment is
sponsored by King County Library Systems.
The annual Day of Service honors and remembers the victims and first responders of the September 11, 2001,
terrorist attacks.
The city has identified several volunteer opportunities throughout the city. To find one of interest and to
register, please visit JustServe.org and enter “Renton” into the search box; look for the Day of Service logo.
About the National Day of Service
The September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance is the culmination of an effort launched in
2002 by 9/11 family members and support groups. In 2009, Congress designated September 11th as a National
Day of Service and Remembrance and charged the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS)
with supporting this effort across the country.
