Our services do not include supervision or direction of the contractor, their employees, or agents. Geotechnical recommendations for obtaining project objectives may be made by our representatives; however, direction of the actual work should come from the owner or contractor, as appropriate. The contractor is responsible for complying with the contract documents at all times, regardless of the presence of our field representative. Jobsite safety, including compliance with all applicable state or federal regulations, is the sole responsibility of the contractor. The observations, recommendations, and conclusions provided in this field report are preliminary until reviewed by the ESNW project manager. ESNW rep was onsite to observe and test the backfill of storm main, and sewer main. Storm Main ESNW rep was onsite to observe and test the storm main backfill onsite. ESNW rep observed the contractor excavate approximately 3’ deep into native soil to place the 18” storm main. The contractor backfilled the pipe using native tan sandy silt with gravel and compacted it using a hoe pack. ESNW rep took compaction tests and observed adequate compaction of at least 95% of the modified proctor at the tested locations. Sewer Main ESNW rep tested backfill of sewer main while onsite. ESNW rep had observed the contractor had excavated approximately 4’ deep into native soils to place the sewer main. Once the sewer pipe was placed the contractor backfilled with structural soil that had been sprayed with water, and compacted it with a hoe pack. ESNW rep took compaction tests and observed adequate compaction of at least 95% of the modified proctor at the tested locations. Please see map and table below.
