MINUTES
HUMAN SERVICES ADVISORY COMMITTEE
3:00 PM - Tuesday, August 15, 2023
Council Conference Room 720, 7th Floor, City Hall – 1055 S. Grady Way or via Zoom
CALL TO ORDER
The Human Services Advisory Committee (HSAC) meeting for August 15, 2023 was called to
order at 3:04 p.m.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Moved by Member Anderson, seconded by Vice Chair Hasty.
MOTION CARRIED.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Guy Williams, Human Services Manager, proposed an amendment to the June 20, 2023
Human Services Advisory Committee meeting minutes. Guy Williams requested to correct the
next scheduled meeting due to the cancellation of the July 18, 2023 meeting.
Chair Scovel motioned to amend the minutes, seconded by Vice Chair Hasty.
MOTION CARRIED.

Approval of June 20, 2023 HSAC Meeting minutes moved by Member Portolano, seconded by
Member Larson.
MOTION CARRIED.
AUDIENCE COMMENT
No audience comments.
NEW BUSINESS
HSAC discussed having currently funded agencies rather than unfunded agencies present at
future HSAC meetings. HSAC members suggested Renton should provide more advertising
about the upcoming 2025-2026 Human Services funding process to spread awareness to
grassroots agencies.
Lori Fleming, Human Services Coordinator, reviewed the newly initiated Draft Human Services
Contract Quarterly Reports spreadsheet with HSAC.
Lori Fleming reviewed the upcoming events in Renton, which included a Backpack Drive,
Neighborhood Program events, and Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training
courses.
ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at 4:32 p.m.
The next Human Services Advisory Committee meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September
19, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. via Zoom or in person.
