Boileau, AIA Civil | Structural | Survey July 21st, 2023 Construction Contractors, Inc. 1404 SW Grady Way Renton, Washington 98055 TO: Mr. Drew Beebe SUBJECT: LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT’S ARBORIST REPORT FOR PROPOSED OFFICE & SHOP BUILDING SITE-1404 SOUTHWEST GRADY WAY, RENTON, WA 98005 Dear Drew, This letter is being written to satisfy the City of Renton’s requirement for an Arborist Report for the proposed construction of a new Office and Shop Building at your 1404 SW Grady Way site. 2 trees are currently proposed for removal at the project site. Both are in good condition. These trees are both required to be removed in conjunction with proposed onsite improvements and a relocated driveway approach and underground utility installation within the right-of-way. On-site Tree Requirements One onsite tree, an 11-inch DBH Pine, is proposed to be removed for construction of a vehicular turnaround area and resultant changes in finish grade (a 3 foot difference between existing and proposed grades). This tree is located adjacent to east side of the existing site driveway entrance. Renton Municipal Code H,1.,e., ii-Replacement Quantity and Standards indicates that when the minimum number of protected trees cannot be retained, replacement trees with at least a two-inch (2”) caliper, or evergreen trees at least six feet (6’) tall, shall be planted based on the tree credit value of each protected tree. It further indicates that replacement trees shall not contribute to the total credits required pursuant to subsection H1b of that Section. The tree credit value of the 11-inch Pine is 5 tree credits. Tree credit value for new large species replacement trees according to the tree credit chart is 2 tree credits. 5/2=2.5 rounded up is 3 tree credits. These 3 tree credits cannot contribute to the total credits required for the site (using large species trees). Renton Municipal Code 4-4-130, H,1, a requires a minimum rate of thirty (30) credits per net acre. The site is 0.62 acres requiring a minimum of 19 tree credits. Using new large species trees (2 tree credits each) the site will require 10 trees. The total onsite tree requirement for the site using large species trees is 13 trees. See the attached conceptual landscape plan for the proposed locations. Street Tree Requirements One street tree, a 5-inch DBH Maple, is proposed to be removed for construction of new driveway approach and fire utility. This tree is centrally located along the SW Grady Way street frontage. CONSTRUCTION CONTRACTORS, INC. July 21st, 2023 Page 2 of 2 Replacement of street trees are on a one to one basis. One total new replacement Maple street tree is proposed within the SW Grady Way right-of-way. Tree retention/removal plans are attached reflecting the above including impacted existing significant trees, descriptions, notes and completed Tree Retention Worksheet. These plans accompany the SEPA permit documentation package for supporting calculations. We have also furnished a conceptual landscaping plan, which includes trees, shrubs, and groundcover to be installed throughout the proposed project sites. Please feel free to contact our office with any additional questions or comments regarding this project. Sincerely, Raymond J.
