I Line will connect the cities of Renton, Kent and Auburn with frequent and reliable bus rapid transit (BRT) service by upgrading the current Route 160. The project will be completing widening for a transit lane on the east side of Talbot Road South. Project improvements in this location include the roadway widening and associated improvements to include curb, gutter, 8 ft planter strip and 8 ft sidewalk, as well as roadway lighting, as required by City of Renton. Construction is currently planned to begin in early 2025 and be complete by 3rd quarter 2026. Exact timing of construction in this area is not specified at this time. The project budget anticipates receipt of funding from the Federal Transit Administration’s (FTA’s) Capital Investment Grant Program, and the project has been identified in the President’s budget. There are steps for Metro to take to receive the funding, and we are working closely with the FTA on completing those steps, including advancing the design towards receipt of permits. It is our intent to continue to coordinate closely with you and future owners of the adjacent properties on timing and any other considerations as we advance the project to construction, and we look forward to our continued collaboration. Please reach out with any questions. Janine Robinson, AICP (she/her) Transit Capital Project Manager Capital Project Delivery P 206-477-7563 WA Relay:711 janirobinson@kingcounty.gov
