Our services do not include supervision or direction of the contractor, their employees, or agents. Geotechnical recommendations for obtaining project objectives may be made by our representatives; however, direction of the actual work should come from the owner or contractor, as appropriate. The contractor is responsible for complying with the contract documents at all times, regardless of the presence of our field representative. Jobsite safety, including compliance with all applicable state or federal regulations, is the sole responsibility of the contractor. The observations, recommendations, and conclusions provided in this field report are preliminary until reviewed by the ESNW project manager. ESNW rep was onsite to observe northern vault access road subgrade. Vault Access Road Subgrade ESNW rep observed the contractor had exposed the subgrade for the vault access road. ESNW rep used a ½” steel T-probe to probe the subgrade and observed it to be saturated in large areas. ESNW rep recommends over-excavating approximately 12”, placing a layer of woven geotextile fabric and backfilling 12” of 1 ¼” minus crushed rock. At one localized area in the northern end of the road, ESNW rep recommends placing 18” of crushed rock. As requested, ESNW rep will return on Monday the 23rd to observe the repairs and subgrade conditions.
