Dear Debra:
In accordance with Section 5 of the contractual arrangement between the City of Renton and Burien
C.A.R.E.S. (CAG-23-047), the City of Renton hereby declares termination of said contract, effective
December 16, 2023. Pursuant to the terms outlined in the agreement, the City of Renton maintains
the prerogative to conclude this contract with or without cause.
Regrettably, the City has not observed the anticipated alleviation of overcrowded kennel space, as
assured by Burien C.A.R.E.S. during the contracting process. It is acknowledged that Burien C.A.R.E.S. is
facing a heightened demand for its shelter services and is unable to reserve available space for the City
of Renton.
