Add the following unity price item to the contract: Unit Price Item No. 1-51 Temporary Lighting System As required per Field Work Directive No. 3, The Contractor is directed to do the following additional work: Retain 4 of the existing street lights to act as temporary illumination during the course of the project. The lights will remain powered until such a time that they can be transferred to (4) upsized bases - 2 each on each side of Williams Ave N and act as temporary lighting until the final street lights can be placed in Q1 2024. Bases at new street light locations #1, #4, #7 and #10 to be upsized to 3' diameter and 4' in depth to match existing street light foundations. Additional compacted borrow to be used to reduce the depth of the culverts on the west side of Williams from 6' to 4'. (1) 20' Length of 3' diameter culvert to be provided on the upsized bases. (2) ea 6' length and (2) ea 4' length. Provide CDF backfill for bases only on the west side of the street. East side of the street backfill will be according to the bid spec and paid under the bid item. Adaptor plates for 4 temporary street lights, additional labor, and materials. Chipping of existing street light bases to allow for curb installation. Existing bases can remain if not feasible to remove. Reason for Change: 1. The existing plans and specifications do not include provisions for temporary street lighting during construction and for the 15-20 week lead time on procurement of the new street lights. Due to the project being located in the City s downtown core, temporary street lighting is needed to ensure public safety. 2. The quote for 4 temporary diesel powered lighting banks is $7,400 per month. This adds additional risk for costs going above this proposal, additional noise during run- time, pollution and the potential for vandalism.
