ED62140 CASE# 23-5702 OF COLLISION05/21/23 06:08 NARRATIVE On 05/21/23 at about 0610 hrs I was dispatched to a roll over hit and run accident at 140th Way SE and Maple Valley Hwy, in the City of Renton, County of King, and State of Washington. The reporting party and witness Holly Peterson advised the accident involved at red Tesla and a silver Jeep. The driver of the jeep had to crawl out of the sunroof due to the jeep being on its side. The driver of the Tesla left the area on foot SB on 140th Way SE. The driver of the Tesla was described as a black male, 25-30 years old, 59", black hair, wearing a white jersey and white shorts. The driver of the Tesla was seen walking into the Preserve at Cedar River apartments. Holly advised he was very intoxicated and was swerving all over the road prior to the accident. I arrived at about 0617 hrs and observed the Jeep Commander was laying on the passenger side on NB 140th Way SE and the Tesla was just south of the Jeep facing the wrong direction on 140th. There was heavy intrusion on the Jeep's driver door area and heavy front-end damage on the front driver's side area of the Tesla. 1 spoke with witness Holly who advised that she had been traveling EB on Maple Valley Hwy when the Tesla passed her going the same direction. She advised the Tesla was driving erratically and tried to turn SB on 140th Way SE but was going too fast to negotiate the turn. I spoke with the driver of the Jeep Autumn Palmer who advised she was stopped at the red light in the center left turn lane to go from NB 140th Way SE to WB Maple Valley Hwy. Autumn said she thought the Tesla was trying to turn but hit her vehicle instead. Autumn said the driver of the Tesla told her he was drunk and was trying to look for his wife. Autumn said the driver left the scene of the accident walking SB on 140th Way SE. She described him as a black male in his 30's, about 57', small stature, short loose afro, wearing white Cowboys jersey with unknown color shorts. Even with the heavy intrusion in the driver's door and the force of the impact being enough to flip the Jeep on its passenger side Autumn advised she was not injured from the collision. Both Holly and Autumn said they could identify the driver if they saw him again. Assisting officers looked for the suspect but where unable to locate him. There was another witness Danny White who left his number but had to leave the scene for work. I tried calling Danny, but the phone immediately went to his voicemail. WA DOL returns on the Tesla showed the vehicle belonged to Hertz Rental LLC. Renton Fire Fighter Kelley Rose entered the Tesla to render it safe after the collision. He located a wallet and iPhone in a cup holder and a women's handbag in the center console. He gave those items to Officer Vanderhoek. Inside the men's wallet was a WADL for Muluberhan T Gebreselase (09/14/1987) who matched the description of the driver provided by Holly and Autumn. Inside the handbag was an SSN and other cards identifying the owner as Rosa Robles. Officer Vanderhoek advised he would attempt to complete a photomontage of the suspect to see if Holly or Autumn could identify him as the driver. I entered the wallet, handbag, and iPhone into evidence. Both vehicles had to be impounded by Banker's Towing.
