NARRATIVE
On 06/10/2023, 1 was working uniformed patrol in a marked police car as 1 R21. At approximately
1541 hours, I was dispatched to a suspicious circumstances call in the area of the 1-405 underpass
that runs over Maple Valley Highway, which is within the city limits of Renton, county of King,
Washington. This call had an associated collision that occurred. Dispatch advised that there was a hit
and run accident in the area and that a police officer was chasing a suspect on foot eastbound on
Maple Valley Highway.
When I arrived at the scene, I noticed that there were two vehicles in the number 1 and 2 westbound
lanes on Maple Valley Highway. Other officers on the scene had identified the involved vehicles as
follows:
Unit 2: Silver 2004 BMW 325 (WA/CFU5640, VIN/WBAET37424NJ43528).
Unit 1: White 2013 Ram 1500 (WA/D41196A, VIN/1C6RR7GTXDS610317).
Unit 1 stated that she was traveling westbound on Maple Valley Highway in lane 2. She began to
merge into lane 1 which is the right turn-only lane. She then stated that unit 2 came up behind her
already in lane 1 from the freeway offramp. She recalled that unit 2 appeared to be traveling at a high
rate of speed. She then said Unit 2 collided with the rear of her vehicle.
Unit 1 sustained damage to the rear bumper.
Unit 1 nor her passenger appeared to be injured as a result of the collision.
Unit 2 was not on the scene at the time police arrived. He was suspected of leaving the scene of the
crash and fleeing according to witnesses.
Unit 2 sustained damage to the entire frontside of the vehicle.
It is unknown if unit 2 sustained any injuries as a result of the collision.
Other officers on the scene had filled out a SECTOR impound form for unit 2 as it was left in the
middle of the highway. I assisted other officers on the scene with a vehicle inventory. Miscellaneous
personal belongings, tools, and a few phones were located inside the vehicle.
This concludes my involvement in this case.
