ED94956 CASE# 23-10003 OF COLLISION 08/30/23 15:24 OF CbLLI510N NARRATIVE 23-10003 Unless otherwise noted, the following occurred in the City of Renton, County of King, WA. On 08-30-2023 at approximately 1524 hours I was on routine patrol and was flagged down at NE 7th St and Pierce Ave NE for a collision. I witnessed two juveniles running westbound on NE 7th St as 1 was approaching the area. There were several people standing outside pointing towards the juveniles. I also noticed what appeared to be a damaged older style white pick-up truck slowly driving westbound. I located two juveniles (Anthoni and Luis) in the area of NE 7th St and Newport Ct NE. Both were detained. A third juvenile approached me from the east (Gilberto). I asked something to the effect of if Gilberto knew the two detained juveniles. Due to the unknown circumstances of the collision, Gilberto was detained. All three juveniles told me they attend McKnight Middle School. The three juveniles were later identified by McKnight Middle School staff as: Gilberto D. Bustos-Gonzales (DOB 01-30-2010) Anthoni J. Sarceno-Linares (DOB 04-08-2010) Luis A. Rivera-Gutierrez (DOB 09-11-2009) Ofc Tamaivena responded to the original crash location. Ofc Tamaivena relayed to me that the white pickup truck was traveling east to west on NE 7th St. The truck swerved north and collided with a concrete barrier at the intersection of NE 7th St and Redmond Ave NE. There was a "Chevrolet" hub cab on the scene of the collision. The truck then continued westbound which is when I first had visual of the truck and was flagged down. Ofc Tamaivena facilitated having witnesses identify the three juveniles as being involved in a hit and run collision of a concrete barrier. Please see his supplemental report for further details. Sgt. Woodward arrived to my location. Inside the cul-de-sac, Sgt. Woodward located the suspect vehicle WA Lic/C84533L unoccupied. The vehicle was blocking the roadway, had two flat tires on the right side, and was leaking fluid. Gilberto admitted that the truck was his and that he was driving. Anthoni and Luis stated they were running possibly being hit by a vehicle and never stated their involvement. A resident at 670 Newport Ct NE provided me with home surveillance footage of the truck occupied by a male resembling Gilberto driving southbound as Luis and Anthoni are hiding in his doorway. Construction workers at 3409 NE 7th St identified Gilberto jumping a fence heading northbound to where he met me. Another female stopped by the scene and stated she was almost hit but the white pickup truck. Please see her statement for further details. She was unable to identify any of the juveniles as being involved. The three juveniles were released to parents. I did not question the juveniles regarding their involvement in the incident. The truck was impounded by Gene Meyer Towing. Gene Meyer Towing asked Gilberto if he had keys to the truck, which he did and provided to the driver. PAGE 3 OF 5 REPORT NO. During this incident I was equipped with body-worn camera which records both audio and video. Portions of the incident were recorded.
