This addendum shall become part of the Contract Documents and modifies the original Bidding Documents for Project No. 2017 035, City of Renton: RENTON CITY HALL ELEVATOR MODERNIZATION. Acknowledge receipt of this Addendum by number in the space provided on the Bid Form, Page 2. Failure to do so may subject the Bidder to disqualification. Please incorporate the following revisions to the Specifications and Contract Drawings: Sections of this addendum include: 1. Changes to Specifications 2. Substitution Requests 3. Bidders are cautioned that the listing of a manufacturer in the addendum does not necessarily grant approval of a manufacturer’s standard production product, but rather the manufacturer is approved to bid their product. Bidders are reminded that by bidding these substitutions, the product submittals and shop drawings are required and subject to review for conformance and compliance with the contract documents. The answers and/or clarifications provided here are to be considered as part of the bidding contract: Q. Is Renton City Hall a high rise building? A. Yes, Renton City Hall is a high rise building. Q. Is Interim Maintenance part of the contract? A. Yes, interim maintenance for all four elevators from Notice To Proceed to Substantial Completion are part of the contract. Q. What amount of parking will be allocated to the project? A. Two parking spots in covered parking will be allocated for the extent of the project for laydown/storage. Two parking spaces uncovered will be allocated for the extent of the project for contractor parking. Q. Renton City Hall has secured access areas. Will contractors need background checks? A. Project is not anticipated to have work in areas that would require extensive background check. Contractors will need to provide information for low level, no cost background check. Upon award of contract contractors will need to get their information in ASAP for background check. Q. Can contractors have off hours access to Renton City Hall? A. Renton City Hall is a 24hr building. Contractors can do off hours work, they only need to provide advanced notice and get permission from Owner. Q. Is there a preferred crane pick location? A. Past projects have staged crane for rooftop pick in the pull off space immediately to the north of the building. With advanced notice/coordination, this location can be made available to contractors. Section 00 3000 Bid Form Renton City Hall Elevator Modernization City of Renton Project No. 2017035 00 0300 CALL FOR BIDS Addendum 1 - December 5, 2017 00 0300-1 SECTION 00 0300 - CALL FOR BIDS  Sealed bids will be received until 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at the City Clerk’s office, 7th floor, and will be opened and publicly read in the sixth floor conference room, #621, of Renton City Hall, 1055 South Grady Way, Renton, WA 98057, for the City of Renton, City Hall Elevator Modernization Project, located at 1055 South Grady Way Renton, WA 98057. Bids received after the specified date and time will not be considered. The work, to be substantially completed within 780 calendar days from the date of commencement under this contract shall include, but not be limited to:  All tasks required to complete elevator modernization for (4) overhead traction elevators at Renton City Hall. Including but not limited to confirmation of existing conditions, creation of submittals, permitting, engineering, fabrication, installation, and testing of elevator systems. Scope of this contract will not include incidental architectural, mechanical, and electrical work (Work By Others). The estimated base bid construction cost is approximately $2,215,000, including WSST. Bid documents will be available Monday, November 20, 2017. Free-of-charge access to project bid documents (plans, specifications, addenda, and Bidders List) is provided to Prime Bidders, Subcontractors, and Vendors by going to www.bxwa.com and clicking on "Posted Projects", "Public Works", and "City of Renton". This online plan room provides Bidders with fully usable online documents with the ability to: download, view, print, order full/partial plan sets from numerous reprographic sources, and a free online digitizer/take-off tool. It is recommended that Bidders “Register” in order to receive automatic e-mail notification of future addenda and to place themselves on the “Self-Registered Bidders List". Bidders that do not register will not be automatically notified of addenda and will need to periodically check the on-line plan room for addenda issued on this project. Website: plancenter.com A highly recommended pre-bid site walk-through for General Contractors will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. and Friday December 15, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the project site. Each bidder is fully responsible for familiarizing themselves with the work and the site conditions. A Bid Bond in the amount of 5% of the total amount of each bid must accompany each bid. The City reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive any informalities or irregularities in bids received. The City’s Fair Practices and Non-Discrimination policies and State Prevailing Wage Rates apply to this project. EXECUTION OF CONTRACT If written "Notice of Intent to Award Contract" is mailed, telegraphed, facsimile, or delivered to the undersigned within the "period of Bid Validity" noted above, or any time thereafter before this Bid is withdrawn, the undersigned will, within ten (10) days after the date of such notification, execute a Contract in the form of the AIA Document A101 "STANDARD FORM OF AGREEMENT BETWEEN OWNER AND CONTRACTOR - STIPULATED SUM", 2007 edition.
