Request for Statement of Qualifications (SOQs)/Request for Proposals (RFPs) for
Design of Fiber Optic Extension to
Kennydale Fire Station and Water Reservoir Site
Submittal Date: February 14, 2018
The City of Renton is soliciting Statements of Qualifications (SOQs)/ Request for Proposals (RFP) from
qualified consultants to prepare engineering plans and specifications for construction bid documents and to
provide services during construction for the extension of an existing City‐owned fiber optic network to
provide service to a new Fire station and Water Reservoir site in the Kennydale area.
The work includes the field verification of the existing fiber optics and conduits within a 2‐mile section of
existing roadways and through an existing park and to identify and design the best route to connect the
existing fiber optic system to the new fire station and water reservoir site. The design of system
improvements will include conduits, cables, pull boxes, connections and other related appurtenances to
complete the system.

The City of Renton staff will evaluate the consultants’ SOQs / RFPs based on the project approach, each firm's
engineering skills and resources, project team's engineering skills, history of performance, and knowledge.
After the SOQs / RFPs have been evaluated, the highest ranked firms may be interviewed. All firms
submitting SOQs / RFPs will be notified in writing as to their status in the selection process. Final selection
may be made based upon the written SOQs / RFPs, or by a subsequent oral interview process, at the
discretion of the City.
Deadline
The deadline for submittals is 4:00 PM on Wednesday, February 14, 2018. If mailed, the submittal must be
postmarked no later than Wednesday, February 14, 2018. Five (5) copies of the Statement of
Qualifications/Proposals shall be mailed or delivered to the following address:
