NARRATIVE
Unit 2 was traveling north bound on Logan Ave N approaching a green light at the intersection of
Logan and N 4th ST.
Unit 2 was traveling west bound on N 4th ST at a high rate of speed approaching a red light at the
intersection Logan and N 4th ST.
Unit 1 ran the red light at the intersection attempting to take a left turn at a high rate of speed. While
unit 1 attempted to make a turn unit 2 was crossing through the intersection. The front of unit 1 then
collided with the front passenger side of Unit 2.
Directly after the collision the driver of Unit 1, a Hispanic male wearing a black sweatshirt and grey
sweatpants, crawled out of the window of his vehicle. The driver then said, "Look what I did" and then
ran south bound on Logan Ave S.
Officers performed a short area check but could not locate the driver of unit 1.
Unit 1 had significant front-end damage, indenting the front end of the vehicle and deploying multiple
airbags. Unit 2 had significant front-end damage as well also deploying multiple air bags. Unit 2 was
hit with such force that it was pushed from the intersection and up onto the sidewalk, resting against a
bush on the sidewalk.
The driver of Unit 2, Tanya R. Yancey (DOB: 05/07/1969) was seated on the floor and shaking when 1
first arrived. She stated that her chest, leg, and neck were in pain. Her son and passenger, Nikeese
F. Burnetto (DOB: 02/12/2006) was up walking around the vehicle. He stated that his legs were
hurting. Both were checked out by the fire department; Tanya was taken to Valley Medical Center by
ambulance.
Both Tanya and Nikeese stated that the driver of the vehicle was a Hispanic male, wearing black
sweatshirt and gray sweatpants. Witnesses of the incident also observed a Hispanic male running
away from the scene wearing the same clothing. Witnesses also stated that they witnessed the unit 1
vehicle traveling at a very high rate of speed before the collision.
The registered owner of Unit 1, Miguel A. Gonzalez Machuca (DOB: 10/18/1978), matched the
description of the driver.
I took photographs of the collision and uploaded them to Evidence.com. I observed that there were
traffic cameras at the intersection of Logan Ave N and N 4th ST.
Officer Hsu fingerprinted a vape pen that was found on the floorboard of the Unit 1 vehicle. Officer
Hsu also created a line up identification of the suspect that included Miguel's photo. Sergeant Tolliver
later showed the lineup to Yancy. Officer Gall completed an impound for Unit 1's vehicle. A private
tow was called for Unit 2's vehicle.
Sergeant Tolliver will be showing the lineup to Nikeese soon for further identification.
Currently there is no probable cause to arrest Miguel for hit and run. Further follow up is needed to
identify the driver of the vehicle.
