Dear Andrew Van Gordon,
Thank you for the opportunity to comment on the project to construct a detached dwelling located at
3312 Lake Washington Blvd N. Based on the information provided and our understanding of the project
and its APE, the Duwamish Tribe recommends an inadvertent discovery plan (IDP) if any ground
disturbance cuts below fill. This is an area the Duwamish consider culturally significant and is near two
Duwamish placenames. The DAHP WISAARD predictive model indicates that an archaeological survey is
highly advised with a very high risk of encountering cultural resources.
In the unlikely event that archaeological work or monitoring is performed, we would like notification.
Cultural and archaeological resources are non-renewable and are best discovered prior to ground
disturbance. The Tribe would also like the opportunity to be present if or when an archaeologist is on
site.
