The reporting party, Eric Vanderveen advised dispatch that a vehicle struck a pedestrian and then fled the scene. The victim needed aid and appeared conscious. The suspect vehicle was described as a charcoal grey Ford F-150. The victim had a laceration to the chin and other unknown injuries. RFA was started. I arrived and several officers were already on scene. The victim, Taily Hudie has already been seen by RFA and being transported to an aid vehicle on a gurney. I took photos on scene and observed a broken iced coffee, a pack of cigarettes and a bag of candy just west of the intersection. The items appeared to be recently since there was broken glass and liquid from the coffee still on the street. These items were located on the northwest side of the intersection approximately ten to twelve feet from the marked crosswalk. I took photographs on scene and another officer advised me he took photographs already of the victim, Hudie while she was on scene. I called the reporting party. Vanderveen. He conveyed the following. He drives a fuel truck and was leaving the Fred Meyer through the north exit. He was stopped at the light, and he could see from his vantage point that Hudie was crossing the street from north to south. He told me that the light was red, and that Hudie had a walk signal to cross the sidewalk. Vanderveen told me a charcoal grey colored F-150 ran the red light and struck Hudie. Vanderveen saw brake lights from the truck and then the truck took off again, striking Hudie a second time. The pick-up truck left the scene without checking on Hudie or exchanging any pertinent information. Vanderveen was in Seattle doing another delivery when I contacted him. He told me his truck had a camera on it, but he could not access it. He later sent me a text advising his safety director, Darwin (206) 512-7080 would be able to access it on Monday. I provided this case number to him via text. I asked Vanderveen if he would be able to identify the driver of the pick-up and he told me no. The suspect driver was driving downhill, and he only got a glimpse of the side of it. He was unable to provide a license plate and did not notice any distinguishing features on the truck. RFA transported Hudie to Valley Medical Center. She was still in x-ray, and I was looking to obtain a medical waiver. Her boyfriend, JD was waiting in their room, 31 and I provided him a business card with this case number and advised follow up would done through our traffic division. Hudie's cellular telephone was destroyed when she was struck by the truck twice and the number referenced belongs to JD. There appeared to be traffic cameras at this particular intersection I was unable to access. An area check for the suspect vehicle was negative. The incident was captured on my body worn camera. The report is a summary of events that occurred and is not an exact sequencing of events. Statements have been paraphrased and summarized. I certify or declare under penalty of perjury under the laws of the State of Washington that the foregoing is true and correct. E.Sagiao/10339 PAGE 3 OF 4 REPORT NO.
