Which I remember were dismissed. This last week I witnessed a lot more trees bushes and ground removed from in back of my house, next to the 405 freeway for construction purposes. I realize that is necessary for the expansion. However, because all of the above was removed, and I assume more will be removed in the coming months, that removal has also removed the noise barrier that we all counted on. The noise level has increased at least 40%. Not that I am basing this on decibel readings but there is more to this experience than decibel readings. The level of vibration from the traffic has also risen at least that much. Over the last several nights it has been impossible to get to sleep. Last night the reduction of traffic didn’t happen till 12:30am. At that point I was able to get to sleep. Prior to that, the noise and vibrations were such that they were literally shaking me in my bed. That never happened before all the trees, bushes and ground were removed. I also think that nobody on the council ever considered how many nights and days where we have a high degree of extremely loud racing by cars, motorcycles and trucks. I’m would say that several days out of every week I’m on the phone with State Patrol, asking them to come to this part of the 405 and deter this racing, which will go on for hours and hours at a stretch. When I think of any sort of investigation that might have been done prior to the construction beginning, I have to conclude that it wasn’t very thorough. To which, I have to ask, why wasn’t it? Time? Money? Thoughtlessness? You tell me. To me it feels as though there wasn’t any sort of real investigation to the effects of this barrier removal would have on the citizens living so close to the 405 freeway. What, if any, are your plans to mitigate these effects that I and others only expect to get worse over the next 2 years or more? (Infinitum) Sincerely, Mike Cressy
