Renton Unveils Seahawks Monument Sign at Fan Rally at City Hall on
January 10
RENTON: The City of Renton will unveil a Seahawks/City of Renton monument sign at the fan rally on
Friday, January 10, at Renton City Hall. The city-owned sign welcomes visitors to Renton, the “Home of
the Seattle Seahawks,” and proudly celebrates the high-profile sports team.
The sign was originally constructed in 2008 as a gateway monument near the Seahawks he adquarters
when they moved to Renton. Unfortunately the monument was damaged by two vehicle accidents.
City staff worked closely with the Seahawks to replace the deteriorating sign with a brand -new
monument sign near Seahawks headquarters.
The original sign was removed from the location near the Seahawks headquarters to the city’s public
works shops to be disassembled and scrapped. At that time, Mayor Denis Law asked the public works
staff whether there was any chance of salvaging and repairing the sign without incurring major
expenses. For city staff, not only was this an opportunity to show their skill but also to demonstrate
their pride for the Seahawks. They researched and devised a way to repair and refurbish it and were
able to restore it to its original appearance. Mayor Law then had the sign installed at Renton City Hall
in a high-profile location to proudly celebrate the team’s victory and the city’s partnership with the
Seahawks.
The public is invited to the Seahawks fan rally on Friday, January 10, hosted by the City of Renton. The
“12” flag is flying high above Renton City Hall and everyone is being asked to wear blue, their best
Seahawks spirit costume, and their “12” buttons to show their support. Free hot dogs, free Seahawks
cheer cards, prizes for the best Seahawks Spirit costume, and more will be available at the rally.

accomplishments this past year,” said Renton Mayor Denis Law, “Come celebrate with us at the
Seahawks fan rally at Renton City Hall on January 10, and join us as we unveil this important
monument that marks our great partnership.”
