SW 27th Street/Strander Blvd. Extension Project – Ribbon Cutting June 24, 2014
WHAT: Ribbon cutting ceremony for the first phase of the SW 27th Street/Strander Boulevard Extension
Project. The connection of SW 27th Street in Renton and Strander Boulevard in Tukwila creates
a critical east/west connection that is missing between Renton and Tukwila and provides an
alternate route to I-405 between I-5 and SR 167, which is one of the most congested stretches
of highway in the state. This portion of the Extension Project promotes transit use and
improves air quality by finally creating public access to the Sounder commuter rail from the
east and supports use of Sounder, Amtrak and other mass transit modes , including Metro’s
RapidRide F Line which was implemented earlier this month.
WHO: Featured guest speakers include: Renton Mayor Denis Law; Tukwila Mayor Jim
Haggerton; Port of Seattle Commissioner and FMSIB Board Member John Creighton .
WHEN: 12 p.m., Tuesday June 24, 2014.
WHERE: SW 27th Street at Naches Avenue SW (just north of the Federal Reserve Bank-Seattle).
CONTACT: For more information call Linda Moschetti at 425-430-7394.
