Swimming Area in Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Closed Temporarily
Renton, WA: On the advice of the King County Public Health Department, the City of Renton
Community Services Department has temporarily closed the swimming beach area at Gene Coulon
Memorial Beach on Friday, August 15, 2014, until further notice. Testing by King County Public Health
Department indicated higher than standard levels of bacteria present. Kennydale Beach will remain
open.
City of Renton has posted signs advising people to stay out of the water at the swim beach. Lifeguards
will be on site from noon to 8:00 pm to let people know the swimming area is closed. The city will
reopen the beach when it is determined that the levels have returned to normal.
