Registration now open for 7th Annual Renton FilmFrenzy, a 50-
Hour Filmmaking Competition with $1,700 in Cash Prizes
More than 25 filmmaking teams are expected to compete for $1,700 in cash prizes and the
coveted Curvee Awards, when Renton becomes a giant film studio from October 3 to 5 for the
7th Annual Renton FilmFrenzy, a 50-hour filmmaking competition.
Registration for the 2014 FilmFrenzy opened on September 1 and closes at 5 p.m. on September

This year’s FilmFrenzy and its related program offer a number of exciting new components:
Renton FilmFrenzy, October 3-5
Special guest judges this year will come from the Los Angeles film community. (Renton and the
Frenzy helped sponsor Washington Day at the Los Angeles HollyShorts Film Festival this year).
Renton BestFest, October 10-11, Carco Theatre
The winning films from crash cinema competitions around Washington will be screened
at Renton’s Carco Theatre on Friday, October 10, from 7 to 10 p.m. Directors are being
invited and the screening is free and open to the public.
Representative films from multicultural film festivals in Washington will be screened at
Carco Theatre on Saturday, October 11, from 7 to 10 p.m. Directors are being invited
and the screening is free and open to the public.
FilmFrenzy Screening, Saturday, October 18, IKEA Performing Arts Center
To accommodate the growing crowds for the screening, this event is moving to the 600-seat
Renton IKEA Performing Arts Center on October 18. All completed films will be shown starting at
7 p.m. during this free event. The audience will have the opportunity to vote on their favorite
film and a special FilmFrenzy Screening Curvee Award will be awarded at the gala.
Curvee Gala Awards and NW Film Honors, Friday, October 24, Renton Events Center
Picture the fun of the Golden Globe Awards! In addition to presenting the Curvee Awards and
$1,700 in cash prizes, the event will honor regional filmmakers for their contribution to
Washington Film. Appetizers, desserts, beverages and dancing will also be a part of this exciting
new tradition! The event starts at 7 p.m., with awards at 8 pm. Free and open to all ages, but
attendance is limited.
The FilmFrenzy film-winning Best Picture will also be screened at the Seattle International Film
Festival (SIFF) as a part of SIFF’s week-long program in Renton in 2015.
The Renton FilmFrenzy
Competing filmmakers will have from 5 p.m. on Friday, October 3, through 7 p.m. on Sunday,
October 5, to write, shoot, edit and submit a short film. At the beginning of the competition,
participating filmmakers will be provided with “CurveBall” Challenges, which could include
incorporating a line of dialogue, a task and/or filming at a specific location in Renton.
Renton FilmFrenzy filmmakers may enter their films in one of two divisions: Student Division
(high school and below) and Open Division. There is a $50 entry fee for the Open Division and a
$25 entry fee for the Student Division.
Films can be up to four minutes in length and must be shot completely in Renton. All genres of
film are welcome, although films must be appropriate for all audiences.
