On the shores of Lake Washington, with the Cedar River running through the city, Renton is the
home of Boeing, IKEA, the Seattle Seahawks, and the eternal resting place of Jimi Hendrix. What

#10. Renton School district – world class schools, world class teachers! Thanks to voter
support, every elementary school in the Renton School District has been completely rebuilt
since 1997. Middle and high schools have also enjoyed major remodeling and renovations.
Every classroom has world-class technology. Nearly 70% of classroom teachers have a
master’s degree or higher and 97% of teachers are defined as “Highly Qualified.”
#9 Renton – where Valley Medical Center, the largest hospital between Seattle and Tacoma,
resides. The oldest and largest public district hospital in the State of Washington, Valley

community, and proudly serves over 600,000 residents.

finalists for The Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence.
