Renton Farmers Market celebrates Green Day on July 12th!
Local radio and television host Ciscoe Morris explains environmentally friendly gardening
Renton, WA – The Renton Farmers Market will be “going green” for its July 12 edition. The
market, located at Piazza Park in downtown Renton, will feature a series of booths and
demonstrations designed to turn the old into new and protect the environment.
Among the activities planned:
• Ciscoe Morris: the popular local radio and television and gardening expert explains
environmentally friendly gardening from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
• Renton Repair Café: bring your small household items or clothing to Market West and
the Repair Café expert "fixers" will try to repair them for free! This is one of several
repair events offered by King County’s EcoConsumer public outreach program. Their
goal is keeping items out of the landfill, conserve resources and save money.
• Food Too Good To Waste: learn how to prevent food waste by making simple
adjustments in how you shop, store and prepare food.
• Sustainable Renton: information on their Renton community gardens and farm stand.
If that isn’t enough, July 12 is the “second Tuesday of the month” and that means the food
trucks return to Market West!
All these activities are in addition to the market’s regular cooking demonstrations,
entertainment and community booth. This week, Food $ense will conduct the Taste of Renton
Food Demonstration from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. and the Community Booth will feature Sustainable
Renton. There will be no musical entertainment this week.
