Renton Municipal Arts Commission looking for a few good artists
Artists are invited to create temporary designs for vacant storefronts in downtown Renton
Renton, WA – The Renton Municipal Arts Commission is looking for artists to create temporary winter or
holiday themed installations for unoccupied storefronts in downtown Renton. The storefronts are located on
South Third Street between Logan Avenue South and Main Avenue South.
The Commission has established the following criteria for consideration:
THEME: Installations should be winter or winter holiday themed and incorporate lighting
MEDIA: Artwork may be in any two-dimensional, three-dimensional, or new media
STIPEND: Each artist chosen will receive $100-500 based on the size and type of space assigned to them. All
materials required for the installation are the responsibility of the artist.
LOCATIONS: Artists are encouraged to walk around downtown Renton and identify potential locations
before submitting proposals, since available vacant storefronts range in type and scale. Possible available
locations include:
• 825 South Third Street
• 807 South Third Street (window only; no floor space)
• 700 South Third Street
DEADLINE: Proposals must be emailed to arts@rentonwa.gov and received by October 21, 2016. Chosen
artists will be notified via email by October 28, 2016.
INSTALLATION DEADLINE: The artwork must be installed by November 20, 2016, and will be on display
from Small Business Saturday, November 26, 2016, thru mid-January 2017.
