The applicant has requested approval of a Special Fence Permit along the north side
of Lot 38 of the Laurel Crest Plat. The property is located within the R-8 zone. The
proposed fence would have a maximum height of 6 feet and would be a minimum
distance of 7-1/2 feet between the fence and the northern property line, with a
3-foot minimum distance between the fence and sidewalk bump-outs (See Exhibit 2).
The proposed fence would be constructed utilizing cedar boards and trim (See Exhibit
4). The posts would be spaced approximately 6-foot on center, at no point would the
posts be closer than 4-foot on center and no further than 8-foot on center.
Landscaping including Autumn Blaze Maple trees, Zabel Laurel, Rockrose, Wild Lilac,
and Eulalia Grass, is proposed within the 5-foot setback along the full length of the
fence to prevent a blank wall appearance (Exhibit 3).

1 The fence shall maintain a distance of 3 feet from the sidewalk bump-outs, and a 7.5 foot distance from
the property line.
2 The applicant shall notify the Current Planning project manager following installation of the new fence

The applicant should contact the Utility Notification Center, by dialing 800-424-5555,
to determine the location of underground utilities (telephone, streetlights, cable,
electric), which may be located behind the sidewalk.
Appeals of permit issuance must be filed in writing on or before 5:00 p.m. on December 18, 2014, together with
the required fee with: Hearing Examiner, City of Renton, 1055 South Grady Way, Renton, WA 98057. Appeals to the
Examiner are governed by RMC 4-8-110 and more information regarding the appeal process may be obtained from
the Renton City Clerk's Office, 425-430-6510.
Reconsideration: Within 14 days of the decision date, any party may request that the decision be reopened by the
approval body. The approval body may modify his decision if material evidence not readily discoverable prior to the
original decision is found or if he finds there was misrepresentation of fact. After review of the reconsideration
request, if the approval body finds sufficient evidence to amend the original decision, there will be no further
extension of the appeal period. Any person wishing to take further action must file a formal appeal within the
14-day appeal time frame.

It is our desire to construct a permanent quality 6' cedar privacy fence encroaching into / 7-'1
the 15' side yard setback at the north side of Lot 3 8 of the Laurel Crest Development. f.J"'
Refer to attached documents for location offence and the permanent landscaping that }(. OfP ,t-
will be provided along the front of the fence. The proposed fence is 10' off the street and
will be similar in design and material to the other approved fences located in the
development and maintains a consistent application of the look and feel of the
community. The purpose of this fence is to provide privacy and security to the rear yard
of this lot.
