The applicant is requesting a Special Fence Permit for the installation of a 6-foot
high cedar fence along the property line. An existing laurel hedge is currently
growing around the perimeter of the property within the public right-of-way. The
existing hedge exceeds the 4-foot high maximum height permitted for hedges,
fences, and retaining walls along street frontages. The applicant is requesting to
retain the existing hedge. There is an approximately 15-foot wide gap in the hedge,
which allows visibility into the rear yard area from the public street. The applicant is
proposing to install a 6-foot high cedar fence (with a gate) along the property line, to
bridge the 15-foot wide gap and provide increased privacy. The fence would be
located approximately 6-8 feet behind the sidewalk at the back edge of the hedge.

1 Stepping stones shall be installed within the landscaped area between the gate and sidewalk.
2 The right-of-way between the fence and the sidewalk shall be landscaped with a mix of shrubs and
ground cover subject to approval by the Current Planning Project Manager. Once installed an inspection
shall be completed and approved, please contact Jill Ding at 425-430-6598 for an inspection.

ADVISORY NOTE: The applicant should contact the Utility Notification Center, by dialing 800-424-5555.
to determine the location of underground utilities (telephone, streetlights, cable,
electric), which may be located behind the sidewalk.
Appeals of permit issuance must be filed in writing on or before S:00 p.m. on November 02, 201S, together
with the required fee with: Hearing Examiner, City of Renton, 1055 South Grady Way, Renton, WA 98057. Appeals
to the Examiner are governed by RMC 4-8-110 and more information regarding the appeal process may be obtainec
from the Renton City Clerk's Office, 425-430-6510.
Reconsideration: Within 14 days of the decision date, any party may request that the decision be reopened by the
approval body. The approval body may modify his decision if material evidence not readily discoverable prior to th1
original decision is found or if he finds there was misrepresentation of fact. After review of the reconsideration
request, if the approval body finds sufficient evidence to amend the original decision, there will be no further
extension of the appeal period. Any person wishing to take further action must file a formal appeal within the
14-day appeal time frame.
