The applicant has requested approval of a Special Fence Permit for the replacement
of an existing 6-foot cedar fence with a 6-foot wrought iron and stone fence within
the front yard setback (north property line) of 10933 SE 168th ST. The property is
located within the R-10 Zone. The proposed fence exceeds the 4-foot high maximum
height permitted for hedges, fences, and retaining walls along street frontages per
RMC4-4-040D.2. The applicant proposes to install the fence on the property line,
rather than setting the fence back the minimum required twenty (20') feet (See
Exhibit 1). The proposed lower portion of the fence would be constructed with a
stone wall that is approximately 16-18 inches tall. The upper portion of the fence
would be constructed with wrought iron fence and would be transparent (See Exhibit
2). The applicant proposes to install an eight foot (8') landscape strip that would be
visible behind the fence. The proposed landscape strip includes Arborvitae shrubs,
Chamaerops humilis, and Pieris mountain fire (See Exhibit 3).

We would like to put the fence ltthe property line for a two reasons.
1 .we often find garbage people ha ve thrown all along the fence, If we have to move the fence back
even a few feet it would create more space for garbage to gather and harder to keep clean .We often
have to pick up broken glass. Not sure why people do that but they do.
2. Thi s will be a very nice iron and stone with a 16" -18" stone foot wall putting any kind of landscaping
in front of the beautiful stone would only block the beauty of it.
Sincerely
TJ Dhaliwal
